I love the playful flavour of Tomoko Wada's art. Her art allows us to indulge in the pleasure of viewing. With each of her works she meticulously articulates a point of view that rewards the viewer for paying attention to the details.
Tomoko collects and surrounds herself with objects that mesmerise her. “I work mainly with glass but also various materials such as wire netting, wood and rock which I pick up, even sometimes considered rubbish,” says Tomoko. “It is a simple procedure for me to pick up on a point that I find beautiful or interesting and then expand that idea. I create my work while anticipating how such ordinary materials could transform into a brand new scenery which you have never seen before”. In her recent work, she has started using mirrors allowing her to explore infinite possibilities of rooms within rooms...
Tomoko is encouraged and uplifted when people see her work! She is young and talented, but already her work is highly sought after by collectors and gallerists. She has exhibited throughout the United States and Asia.
