This work contains one hundred individual ceramic structures. Designed with dual intention, to be displayed on a wall and handled for a game of chess. Hand-built tiles form one-off stoneware boards, set in a ceramic frame. The thirty two chess pieces are simplistic and brutalist in design. Their robust yet delicate materiality brings attention to the relationship between action and art–object.
