Wheel thrown with a thick white Shino glaze*. One of Elena's favourite things to make, a beautiful 'functional art piece'.
Elena’s aim is not perfection, on the contrary, her belief is 'imperfections make the bowls come alive, make them easier to relate to, make them more human. 'Nature’s perfection lies within its own asymmetry.'
Kurinuki styled tea bowl with Black clay, the black clay products are incredibly rare.
Approx. Size: W 145 x H 100 mm
Handmade in Auckland, New Zealand
*Shino glaze originates from the late 16th century in the Mino region of Japan where it’s loosely thrown pots and spontaneous decorations were perfectly suited to the wabi-sabi aesthetics of the ruling Zen Buddhist tea masters of that era.
