Designer Ella Van Beynen's one-off, tailor-made garment.
~ Made from an antique silk kimono, exterior is the kimono lining, purchased from a dealer in Takayama
~ Hand quilted with both silk and cotton thread. I took his with me when I went tramping with my Dad in Nelson Lakes. I did the majority of the base quilting in the evening at each hut. (The jacket has been over the Wiau Pass and Travers Saddle, hence the name.)
~ Inseam pockets
~ Backed with one layer of wool crepe and three layers of silk yoryu
~ Lined with silk satin jacquard
~ Buttons hand made taken from an antique pillow case
~ Garment dyed twice
