Born [16-02-00] in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland, 36.8483° S, 174.7625° E], Oscar Perress.
Oscar fashions metal objects with a capability of ornamenting either the body, or the home - or perhaps something between.
The objects are largely counterintuitive to natural motion, not to say restrictive but rather built to mould an understanding of one’s form,
range of actions and interactions with the space in which they inhabit or occupy all in both a temporal and a physical sense.
For this latest collection, Oscar has applied his ethos and aesthetic to belts and scarfs, along with the one-off rings he’s known for. His approach to materials is highly educated and intelligent, he has the ability to manipulate for until he’s satisfied with each piece.
We love his aesthetic and it’s exciting to see this young energy in our home town. Each piece is tarnished by chemical or friction, and when kept in proximity to each other, they reactivate such processes, developing a living patina.
The purpose given to each object and how it is inhabited / occupies space determines the evolution of its form.
Handcrafted in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand.
All pieces are are unique and will never be reproduced.
