Each piece is tarnished [by chemical, by friction] + when kept in proximity to each other, they reactivate such processes, developing a living patina. The purpose given to each object, and how it is inhabited/occupies space determines the evolution of its form.
Oscar fashions metal [silver, gold, bronze] objects with a capability of ornamenting either the body, or the home - or perhaps something between.
