Bio : Wilbur Hsu 徐鴻恩 is a maker exploring lineage and heritage through an intimate process. Conjuring impressions of forgotten worlds and tender memories, designs contain graceful edges and intentional details. Often tied to identity, ideas of recognition and connection manifest in Wilbur's designs which gently reimagine the past.

Wilbur has a fashion and costume design background and works predominantly with precious metals and cloth. He is based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland.

Bio:九 JIǓ [9] is a return to memory, heritage and the soft permanence of past blessings.Inspired by a pair of baby-bracelets gifted to me at birth by a thoughtful aunt. With each bracelet charm signifying a specific incarnation of joy and protection for the child.. The collection reflects on love born of hope and well wishes, recreating the nine charms in fine metals, and placing them amongst jade and pure silk. Gently mirroring the powerful meanings of the original charms, each piece is designed to be cherished and kept as a token of consideration.

Made from existing materials found throughout Aotearoa, the collection is a soft investigation of culture and place.

Wilbur Hsu's Jewellery collection

Dumpling / Symbolising wealth and luck, the dumpling is formed in the shape of ancient ingots traditionally made in gold and silver. An important food on Chinese New Year, families meet to make dumplings together, hiding a coin in one of the parcels. Those who receive the coin are blessed with good fortune.

Conch Shell / An emblem of heaven and saltwater from which Aphrodite was born. The conch shell symbolises an awakening trumpet, a powerful voice, a curving jewel of the sea.

It comes with Wilbur's lovely handmade porch.
