Handmade washi by Wataru Hatano
He grew Kozo (mulberry bush), making paper from scratch.
Wataru applies the traditional Japanese materials of Konnyaku paste, persimmon tannin and vegetable oil to the surface of his Washi (Japanese paper) to make it more water-resistant, antiseptic and insect-repellent.
Not only is his washi used to make stationary and bags, it functions as paper strengthener for a wide range of interior products including walls, ceilings, floods and tabletops.
It's truly beautiful art piece !
